Sheila spent her childhood in Ilkley, Yorkshire. She was elected to full membership of the British Society of Painters (BSP) in 1991. Awards include the Pendle Open Championship Gold Cup, the Matthew Brown Silver Trophy (twice) and the Ribble Valley Silver Trophy Shield. The Dalesman Magazine has reproduced her paintings and commissioned twelve works for reproduction as greetings cards. Both Sheila’s and husband Howard’s paintings have been reproduced in several publications
In 1996 she was commissioned to paint “Top Withens” (Wuthering Heights) for presentation to Sir Cliff Richard by Jackson Partnership (a Keighley PR firm). The painting was presented to Sir Cliff at a private dinner, attended by Sheila, following one of his performances in ‘Heathcliffe’ in Birmingham.
Both Sheila and Howard were founder members of a group of professional artists known as ‘The Yorkshire Itinerants (Artists for Charity)’ who, over the years, raised several thousands of pounds for local charities.
Sheila’s paintings range in size from 24" x 18" up to 36" x 30", some of which are in private collections throughout the UK, in Europe and the Americas.
